Best Men Sweaters At The Moment

Best Men’s Sweaters

You already know that the last several years have been strange for men’s fashion, as they have put practicality ahead of flair. Fortunately, we’ve reached that time of year when the temperature is falling and our social schedules are filling up again, so cosy, layer-friendly items are at the top of our shopping list as we prepare for a season of mulled wine, outdoor markets, and other festive festivities. The AW22 catwalks were filled with statement knits from designers like Gucci, Versace, and Burberry, demonstrating the versatility of knitwear.

These knits are ideal for layering over crisp dress shirts or crew-neck tees without sacrificing your attempts to seem smart, and they go for somewhat more sophisticated approaches than those teddy bear woollen jumpers that will have you sweating and scratching your nights away. Tactical knitwear worn beneath a jacket (denim or whatever) may make the difference between freezing through a pint and making the most of your social schedule. We’ve waded through the sea of yarn flooding the market to offer you this curated selection of the finest knitwear for men.

What Are the Best Men’s Sweaters?

To survive the coldest months, even the most prepared man needs more than just a reliable base layer and a jacket (or outerwear that offers even more coverage). That’s why every winter outfit needs at least one fantastic sweater, which can be worn inside and out for maximum warmth (and ideally look good on Zoom, too.) In order to help you narrow down the seemingly endless options, we polled 20 stylish men about the best men’s sweaters they’ve found—the ones they’ve worn (or plan to wear) year after year because they’re durable and timeless.

Despite the fact that we encouraged them to show off their favourite men’s sweaters of any cut, the vast majority of the submissions were crewnecks, which are the most adaptable because they look great with everything from T-shirts to button-downs. However, we also heard about some particularly impressive cardigans, turtlenecks, V-necks, and zip-ups that were available for a wide range of prices. (Most of the more costly sweaters we heard about were defended as good financial investments due to their longevity of use.) Here are the sweaters that all the hip guys in the office love, plus a handful that the Strategists think are great, too.

Best men’s crewneck sweaters

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Uniqlo received three recommendations for their reasonably priced men’s sweaters, as the brand is near the top of every list of men’s clothing we compile. Yale Breslin, the company’s creative producer, attributes the brand’s success to the classic cashmere sweater’s “price is right and the fit is perfect.” His gushing praise is similar to that of Chris Black, who gushed in an article published earlier this year that he buys two or three Uniqlo cashmere crewnecks every winter. He praises the sweater’s low price and comfortable fit, saying, “It’s well priced and fits like it should, not too tight but not too baggy.” (Photographer Christopher Fenimore rounds out our Uniqlo-sweater-wearing trio; unfortunately, he can’t get his hands on the sweater he really wants.)

J. Press Shaggy Dog Trim-Fit Sweater (Blue)

Since its introduction over 60 years ago, J. Press’s Shaggy Dog sweater has been an essential component of the Ivy Style wardrobe. In fact, the Strategist didn’t even exist when it first appeared in New York Magazine. The fact that it was mentioned as often as Uniqlo’s men’s sweaters wasn’t shocking to us. Andrew Favorito, who works in marketing for the cosmetics company Tatcha, and Chang Kim, a financial analyst, both told us they like the trimmer fit of the Shaggy Dog. In an interview, Favorito said, “It’s the most worn piece in my knitwear rotation — my whole wardrobe.” He praised the (navy) sweater’s “trim without being tight” fit, noting that despite its warmth, it yet manages to feel lightweight. Kim is equally as devoted to and comfortable in his (pink) Shaggy Dog sweater, declaring, “The only sweaters I possess since the only sweaters I need are Shaggy Dogs.”

Topo Designs Global Sweater

While we haven’t heard any reports of people splitting wood while wearing this sweater (yet), we have heard that Topo Designs makes some of the most durable clothing and bags around. Its crewneck sweater, in the words of adventurer James Lynch, is “sharp enough for the family Christmas photo, but up to the very high Topo Designs adventure standards.” That is to say, the sweater, like all of the company’s products, is sturdy and long-lasting. Lynch calls the material “supremely soft and the perfect weight to feel cosy without weighing you down”; it’s a blend of wool, polyester, and nylon that holds up well in the washing machine.

La Ligne Marin Sweater (Navy Rainbow)

La Ligne, a womenswear label started by two ex-Vogue editors and a former Rag & Bone employee, has long been included in our style guides. However, as fashion expert Bryant Simmons emphasises, there is no reason why guys can’t wear the brand’s offerings. This striped model (a combination of wool and cashmere) is his personal favourite. Because of its “soft and warm” nature and “drop shoulder.” While the fabric is “quite thick,” Simmons says it doesn’t “add weight” and is “really well-made.” According to Simmons, the design of rainbow stripes “simply makes you joyful every time you see yourself wearing it.” If you don’t like men’s sweaters with patterns, he says, the company manufactures them. This sweater in many “completely unisex colour variants,” from which you may choose the one that works best with your own taste.

Men Sweaters

When winter arrives, the first thought that comes to mind is what should be added to our winter wardrobe. Even though fashionable coats, hoodies, sweatshirts, and cardigans are. Always available, our favourite men’s sweaters have a special place in our closets. One of the most attractive clothes a man may wear is a beautiful sweater. Woollen sweaters can meet all of your varied needs, whether you’re dressing for comfort or for elegance. They can lend contour to a huge body and weight to a lean frame. Wearing sweaters is a great way to layer your clothing or make a fashion statement.
